In this edition of Indian Premier League (hence IPL) the favourites will be Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super kings as the Chennai team won then the last edition of IPL4 and Mumbai is the close second. IPL inaugurated by Lalit Modi in 2008 to reduce the challenge forced by Indian Cricket League started by the Zee TV. Modi is no more at the helm of affairs and lots of controversies and dramas and now IPL is surving all these and going to start on April fourth of this year. In the first match the two time block buster champion Chennai will take on Mumbai in an exciting affair. IPL five has now has nine teams with the newer ones form the last season will be the Pune from Sahara groups with a new stadium , their own one to be justified as the case for it improved positions in comparison to the last edition where the Pune team stays one top form the bottom.  BCCI increase the Pune team trading window to February 29 and also they have the opportunities to play the five foreign players subject to the approval of other franchise members. There was some controversies during the auction and the Sahara team withdraw form the auctions and later all the differences walked out within BCCI and Pune team of Sahara. IPL is all about entertainment , the entertainment with cricket of scoring high scores more than two hundred and also entertainment in all the fonts and that can be boost for the IPL an the success within for it. It is a challenge for the BCCI to attain to this and to make this the optimum efforts to make it more success as it is good for international cricket and for the healthy relationships of international cricket.

After lacklustre performance in the away series of England and Australia, ours bowlers and most of the batsman are out of form IPL is competitive and outs players can regain confidence and can get back their form by playing non stop competitive cricket. As Sunil Gavaskar had told a cricketer had to play relentlessly so that he would be reinventing himself from time to time. IPL has given opportunities to young and budding cricketers to play with the professionals and improve their play level to the maximum elasticity level. India is now comfortably chasing the target in One day international and fielding standard is now one among the best, these are positives but there are above mentioned negatives too. Bowlers are now mixing the deliveries with ease and now thinking about each and every delivery but the negative side is due to continuous travel they are getting tired and injury scarce is more now. Now the payers are psychologically examined and the strategy and its implementation are now becoming the part of the game plan.  IPL is the city based franchises and Indian fans are slowly following the clubs but what about other smaller cities like that of Bhubaneswar, Patna ,Indore , they are choosing from any of the team to support. Shewag, Dhoni, Tendulkar has been icon players for their respective teams and they are performing and they are now synonymous with their respective franchises. In these three area the icon players and the fan followings are tremendously followed and this seems that IPL is slowly gaining momentum.  What the IPL management is to aim at is not to go for any controversies and it should be away from the controversies other wise its reputation and the brand value can be reduced. IPL should be related to play and entertainment, as if anything goes to media especially the electronic media then it goes to the viral in negative ways and this can be harassing for IPL.  This IPL may be the last one for Dravid , who retired after a disastrous tour of Australia and he has moved to Rajasthan and it is for sure he will paly at his best to get back the pride of Rajasthan who had won the first edition of IPL under able leadership of coach and mentor Warne.

What should IPL management do , as in case of every management, the managers should stay behind , they are like directors in a bollywood movie , they should be behind the scenes , away from the glares of electronic media and doing their job relentlessly. In this edition I want the fast bowler Sresanth to bowl fast and aggressively and taking wickets and come back to India team and same is for the Harbhajana and Uthapa to get back to the form as it is essential for the health and performance of Indian team. This year the favourites are definitely Chennai and Mumbai but the dark horse can be Bangalore. Delhi must hope for a better show this time as they are last in the previous edition, This time their batting is stronger with Shewag and Warner at the top followed by Pieter son, Mahela and Ross Taylor and in the bowling font Morne Morkel and Umesh Yadav in their disposal. The bad part is that in the first part of the tournament the absence of top cricketers and how Shewag able to manage and taste the success in these matches remains to be watched and his captaincy will be tested due to lack of resources in the first part of the tournament.. Bowling strength of Delhi are Irfan Pathan , Agarkar, Yadav ,Morkel, Varun Aron .

Pune the new entrant form the last season , marred with controversies and now it seems to be settled . It has no Yuvraj but still thi team looks good with Ganguly  is the captain but I doubt the now abilities of him having struggling to get back his perform and that may affect his batting form, the squad is full of all rounder's which can be a boon or sometimes the curse so Pune have to be trading with caution while team selection. The last year disappointment Graeme Smith at the top , Uthapa, Ryder , Nehra  and leg spinner Rahul Sharma. Smauels , Luke Wright are some of the prominent players in the line up that can spring surprise and bounce back form a difficult situation.

The Punjab team can be a difficult opposition as captained by Gilchrist and this depends has too much dependence with over seas players and this can be a catch twenty two situation for this team as if they are able to get back to their highest form then they can post a bigger challenge . Gilchrist, Paul, Marsh , David Hussey , Abhisekha Nayar , Stuart Broad, VRV Singh , Power some of the potent weapon in this team. They have lesser known domestic players those who had made their mark in some part of the tournament.

He is 37 years and his age is catching up as a sportsman many would say. Give him the honor as they did to Ganguly, Khumble and David’s ODI retirement. He worked hard and bound to fight back soon. He will silence his critics and makes all the stones thrower at him and converted them to milestones. Be it home or down under Laxman always prevails against Kangaroos. This series may be an exception Laxman’s contribution to Indian cricket , from swash buckling knock of 291 against Australia , at Edens’s in 2001 to 176 not out at the same venue against WI has been incredible, how can media for get it ? Kangaroos are playing in their own den, let us wait, when they reach and play in India, and a potential 4-0 slot of Australia in India will be a perfect recipe as we should call that Australia is playing at home and that is why they are winning. We have seen the England won at home defeated India but failed five zero los to India. Australia will be feeling the same at India. Australia coach M. He scored when the team needs most and do we forget the knocks against the Lanka or at Mohali (vs Australia) or at Ahmadabad (NZ) or in South Africa. All these efforts came in last two years. In cricket, average does not matter for real cricket enthusiasts it only matters for the media persons .Laxman played very important innings when the team needed most but surprisingly the role played by India media sees like just the average playing. In the last two years and till the recently concluded WI series Laxman always be the savior for team India. I think the memory of critics are very short , critics which included many former players whose records now been mediocre in present of these greats are now questioning the currently greats. They are saying the age is catching up with Laxman and questioning his fitness but Laxman is always a safe catcher and he is no longer in the ODI. Laxman should not be bothered by criticisms of so called critics. He is always let his bat to do the talking. He has the ability to come good in the crunch situations.

India team is at down under down and out of the series. Australia with much fan fare is playing at home. The crux of the problem is with the mind not with the technique. Sachin is middling the ball but unable to reach the century of century. A peculiar problem as it is unique and no other batsman in the history of international cricket in such a situation. The Indian media has been always negative to the team. Especially the electronic media is too harsh on the team. Gavaskar as former great and ideal of Dravid, Sachin and Laxman is not doing any good to the team by making some harsh comments. India is losing seven losses at the green top wickets of England and Australia but in between they are winning at home and against England at home they won comprehensively. What is the problem? Australia is bowling ours batsman full length delivery and to ours bowlers the shot pitched stuff. The way main batsmen are bowled to the in swinging deliveries remains a problem. The main worry is the in swinging balls and the batsman getting out to ordinary bowlers like Siddle who earlier to this series average 30 in the test match. Hilphenaus also been dropped earlier and returning back to the side after two years and he is making merry of the batsman especially the tail handlers. Te situation of batting of India is very pathetic and the batmen are out of sorts except Sachin and Kohli.

 

This is really a grave situation but in this extraordinary situation we should not be more against to ours team. We should support ours team in this time of emergency. India can bounce back and also it is important to groom the newer talents in this point of time. Laxman’s performance in the last year is below par but we should give him a respectable exit. Shewag is a natural middle order batsman and he also expressed his view about it to bat in the middle and for this Shewag should bat in the middle order and a slow and correct batsman like Mukund or Rahanne should open with Gambhir . he next in line for one year should be Dravid and Shewag should not be given more than six months to prove this presence. Gambhir ‘s form and Dhoni;s form is worrying and India seriously needs to consider to strengthening the batting and also the mental ability. India team have to battle not only the Australia eleven but also their media and also Indian media and surprisingly all are against the team. Umesh Yadav is the shining star among the lot with fast breeze bowling at the hot Perth. Australia must be getting their own medicine with his ultra smart bowling. Ashwin is disappointing and failed to grab the golden chance to permanent his place at Indian team. Zaheer as usual is good and bowling in good line but the disappoint is Ishant who bowled his heart out but failed to capitalize in the wicket column. The coach Flethcher can be blamed partially as before him Kirstein does the good work but now he is making the performance worse.

India score 100 in three hours of test cricket, captain Dhoni strikes a boundary and India crossed the 100 barrier. Pressure so much on middle order and lower middle order and the opening is failing time and again and this is the misery. How Dhoni will play against the spinner? How much purchase the spinner gets it from the spinner. He has a very good field and India is in the dire straights of batting. Dhoni is playing positive and let us hope against the hope India could do a good score to compete with Australia.

Technology help for umpires in decision making

There are lots of controversies whether to adopt technology in cricket field or not. Technology is full proof or not or is it only making the matter worse?  Hawk eye and other technology advancements have been always shrouded with lots of controversies and its impact on cricket has been more or less damaging. In order to use full proof technology, the technology is itself needs to be tamper proof, let us take an example. In order to detect a ball is a no ball or not there are various aspects of camera angles and also not so puzzling picture is the need of the hour from the host broadcaster and these needs to be perfected. Of late series against England in the last summer at England, against India I have seen some very hazy broad cast on some decision making. In the recently concluded series at West indies against India if I recollect right Dhoni was declared out of a no ball and when the field umpire connects to the third umpire who is always local that is in this case from the west indies, Actually the umpire was shown the footage of the previous delivery from the bowler which was not a no ball this is ridiculous and the host broad caster either manipulates or the technology manipulates the host broad caster only the lord knows and the person who did that knows fully well. These are some of the difficulties in dealing with technology. In the recent on going series of Australia and Kiwis, Australia captain M. Clarke played on, he was recalled by the infield umpire in charge Rauf, and the replay show the ball was no ball. This is a very good decision by the field umpire. Mumbai cricket test match between Bharat and West Indies had been a spectacular display of superlative batting display, bowling powers and competition at its best. Last day saw seventeen wickets fall and Bharat on the verge of win sometimes and sometime at losing but managed to salvage the draw. Kohli batted superbly showed his class and head over shoulder though got out when less than twenty needed. Ashwin comes to the crease when more than 50 needed to win and stay right till the last ball. The smart thinker Ashwin with 8 wickets down defended successfully second last ball of Edwards fast incoming swinging towards middle stump ball. A pulsating match and a honorary endings and great cricketing pitch where we have seen great scores in the first innings and in the second innings bowlers do the key.

Ojha in the second innings took first five wickets of WI and with brilliant bowling of spin and wonderful brilliant display of spin wizard WI batsmen fell just like nine pins. In the first innings Ashiwn bowled brilliantly but Ojha unlucky having dropped catch in his bowling is economical and that is very important. On the bating side Sachin missed out one hundredth century 94 but Bharat at a safer place in the first innings.

What a treat for the test cricket. First two tests saw less spectators but do they expect such a turn around in each and every moments of instances in the final day of this test match. WI won the toss and elected to bat first fearing the dreaded fourth innings pitch and that did not help WI as Bharat batted beautifully with Ashwin making one brilliant century his maiden and now tagged as all rounder. So, soon we forget Harbhajan , with excellent batting display , he is batting like a true batsman and very comfortable and correct. His stint at the first innings and stay at the second innings while batting and total nine wickets in the match has been inspiring and a dream debut. His partnership with Ojha is making and gaining prudent results.

Ojha bowled superbly and make a new record of opening bowling with the new ball in the WI second innings took five wickets in a row. In all Bharat bowled superbly, batted brilliantly and good captaincy by Dhoni. Now the turn fo ODI against WI and for this Sachin, Gambhir and Dhoni rested, and Yuvraj and Harbhajan dropped and the same team as with ODI against England , Shewag is the captain.

Man of the match and man of the series is Ashwin with stupendous bating and bowling display and Bharat won the series two nil. Bharat is now second in test rankings below England. Bharat won the series comprehensively

In thrilling days of play at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, second test match of cricket between Bharat and West Indies, Bharat won by inning and runs. This is the second win for Bharat in the three match test series against West Indies. West Indies squad for India tour

Chrish Gayle overlooked by West Indies selectors while picking the squad for the three-Test series against India, starting in New Delhi Nov 6. 15-member squad currently playing with Bangladesh won the test series after a long gap. The main reason for Gayle drop from the squad dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) over his comments on a Jamaican radio station in May. The WICB had demanded apology but Gayle not relented to it. West Indies will thus persist with the young pair of teenager Kraigg Brathwaite and left-hander Kieran Powell with Adrian Barath considered fit enough to tour India. Barath recovered from hamstring injury picked from Bangladesh one day series. The first test is at Delhi, the second test is at Kolkata and the third test is at Mumbai and followed by five match one day intentional series.

Harbhajan Singh dropped again from the test squad, due to positive performance from off spinner Ashwin. It seems it is difficult for Harbhajan to come back to national team. Harbhajan Singh’s of late performance on of not taking wickets much lately has been criticized and that is the main worry that has been the reason for him to drop from the squad. It is a good time and a great opportunity for Ashwin. Dhoni’s view is different but selectors thought otherwise and amply supported by coach Fletcher. Ashwin’s performance in ODIs against England both home and away has been staggering, England is a good side and his performance matters most. Amit Mishra missed the bus due to Rohit Sharma, whio got prasie from the maestro Sachin for his brlliant IPL performance and has been a great potential and in the mould of great Kumble. Praveen Kumar rested for series long stint and has been replaced by both faster bowlers Yadav and Aron. Ashwin and Yadav will be making their debut in the first test match and the reserves will be Rahane,Aron and Kohli. Raina dropped from test squad after near disaster performance at England test series and Yuvraj is fit enough to play test and must be highly vitalized with his promotion to Grade A.

Grade A contract for Yuvi

After humongous performance at World cup cricket 2011 BCCI rewards Yuvraj Singh talented cricketer Grade A contract for his absolute performance. Earlier he was in Grade B. Virat Kohli and speedster Ishant Sharma given Grade A contract for the first time. Jadeja and Ashwin along with Rohit Sharma promoted from Grade C to Grade B. Ashish Nehra earlier in Grade B did not find any category in the contract. Harbhajan Singh remain at Grade A , despite being dropped from the squad from England one day series both home and away and against West Indies. All these decided by the committee of BCCI , held at the meeting on Saturday.

Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Shewag, Dhoni,Raina retian their Grade A position. It has now 12 players instead of 9. The aggregate number of contracted players now increases from 24 to 36. Speedster Umesh Yadav, Aron and Rahul Sharma receievd contract for the first time. All three players are selcted for the squad testmatch against West indies.

Evan Speechy appointed for physiotherapist of the INdina tema for the period of two years, he will join the team in then third test against West Indies. He was associated with Royal challengers Bnagalore. IPL matches are to be categories as List A.

Gambhir struggles but scored a decent thirty before being fooled by a great ball to be leg before wicket, in front and plumb. Kohli most falmbuoyant, fluency, and he also scored thirties before being caught at deep by Pieterson, good jump catch. Raina played superbly and Dhoni smashed everything out of the park and Jadeja making mockery of English bowlers in the final sixteen overs where India scored a mammoth three hundred with the help of 160 runs. The smooth and power hitting by India’s lower middle order and the way the ball goes out of the park has been a delight to see and watch. It seems Dhoni who scored smash buckling 87 and a great partner ship with Raina and then with Jadeja , just hit out the yorkers out of the park effortlessly.

England started disasterouysly, their wicket keeper opening batter cuaght behind to DHoni of Praveen Kumar and then their captain Cook survives for a good ball to ball fifty before being taken by jadeja caught at deep and then the flurry of wickets and both the spinner Jadeja and Aswhin making mockery of English batters and they fell like the ten pins. Rahanne, Manish Pande exceptional in the field. Manish would be disappointed that he scored only a fifty in this match in a superb batting paradise. The real pace will be seen in the recently to be held one day championship and their also some talents will be generated and can be seen. Vinaya Kumar bowled well in patches but his problem would be his pace. Hardly touches one thirty would kilometers, and this give batsman each time a separated period to change and adjust the stroke. So, he should bowl always stump to stump parameters, other wise there is every chance of batsman making merry of his bowling. He should learn from Praveen Kumar’s consistency.

The satisfacroty part is that of the success of Rahanne and India team will be delighted to see his success as Sachin will not be available this time against England so one more batsman can fit into the scheme of things. Ojha born at Orissa and played for Hyderabad has been exemplary in his bowling parameters, he spuns, bounces and even some times spuns out of the table. He is economic and that is why he will fit into the Test team.
